In the second half of 2018 (Academic Year 107), Kaohsiung Medical University underwent institutional accreditation conducted by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT).
The university successfully passed all four evaluation categories:
- University Governance and Administration
- Institutional Resources and Support Systems
- Educational Outcomes and Performance
- Self-Improvement and Sustainable Development
The accreditation is valid for the period from 2018 to 2023.
The evaluation identified 11 recommendations for improvement. The university formulated aSelf-Improvement Plan and Implementation Report, which was reviewed and discussed in the following meetings:
- August 8 and October 3, 2019: Administrative Council Meeting
- May 21, 2020: University Executive Meeting
- June 30, 2020: Self-Evaluation Steering Committee Meeting
The final report was submitted to HEEACT on August 17, 2020.
According to the reply issued by HEEACT on December 10, 2020 (Ref. No. 1091001642H), all 11 recommendations were acknowledged as having been addressed with appropriate self-improvement measures.
The university continues to report progress on the implementation of the improvement plan at the Administrative Council Meetings every June and December until all recommendations are fully resolved.
Accreditation Certificate for the Full Recognition of All Five Evaluation Categories in the 2018 University Accreditation of Kaohsiung Medical University
According to the “Implementation Plan for the Third Cycle of University Institutional Accreditation (2023–2025)” announced by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT), Kaohsiung Medical University is scheduled to undergo institutional accreditation in the second half of 2025 (Academic Year 114).
The evaluation in this cycle will focus on the following four categories:
- University Governance and Administration
- Faculty Teaching and Academic Professionalism
- Student Learning and Outcomes
- Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development
The specific evaluation items, core indicators, and assessment focus for each category are based on HEEACT’s official accreditation guidelines.
